Unusual Litter of Kittens Born With ‘Fever Coat’. But Do You Know What Is ‘Fever Coat’? UNITED KINGDOM – A strange litter of little kittens was lately born at Llandogo, where one of the citizens noticed  a stray black cat.

This woman couldn`t bring the kitty at her home because  she was already keeping a domestic cat, and she was afraid about their interaction.

However, she immediately contact Forest of Dean Cats Protection and only two days after that, she gave birth to a litter of six little babies in the middle of the kitchen floor.

Fever Coat

These kittens were born with a very unique overcoat of grey / white fur over their true colors. 4 of the kitties only had this on their hind legs and hips, but other 2 were entirely covered in this fur with their tiny black ears sticking out.

Slowly, in the next weeks, the overcoats disappeared and showed two black kitties,  one tabby and three torties.

This type of overcoat had never been seen before on a litter of kitties, so Sara Ford, Forest of Dean Cats Protection co-ordinator, contacted Maggie Roberts, who is the main vet at Cats Protection HQ in Sussex.

Fever Coat

Maggie and her co-workers had never before seen disappearing overcoats on kitties before, but they did some examinations  and discovered a phenomenon called ‘fever coat’. This can happen when the mom cat had a stress or  fever during pregnancy, which might be the answer as Georgie was a stray.

Black little kitties are constantly more affected than others, as confirmed to be the case in this litter.

All of the babies and their mommy have now been adopted by kind families and doing well. This is happy ending story. We are so happy for this kittens.
