The story of the feline found in Köstendorf the last week with severed toes bring  Austria to tears. The five-month-old kitten luckily survived the emergency medical surgery with few amputations. As Tetanus spreads in her tiny body, she is still fighting for her life. The brave fighter was called “Lucky”, and this name should bring her luck.

When the rescuers cleaned the paws of dead skin, they were in shock: bones showed up. The female feline had to gone under another surgery. Some parts of the bone had to be removed.

Through the medical procedure,  the wounds can now be overgrown with fresh tissue. But, according to the vets, the survival chances are only 50:50 . Tetanus bacteria have spread in the left foreleg and the right hind leg, probably because the open wounds have been in contact with dirt for weeks.

Antibiotic treatment is supposed to save the feline

Luckily, On Wednesday the condition on the left foreleg had significantly improved. The feline is treated with antibiotics. Permanent damage to the wound stiff spasm was excluded, said Jürgen Stadler of the pediatrics.

“And we really hope that his cat will survive and it will fast recover,” says Stadler. They gave her the name ” Lucky”, because she is a brave cat and despite her sad history, is a happy and friendly kitty.

2.200 Euro Reward

They put reward for any information about this case. They are trying really hard to find the person who did this cruel act. Still, there is no evidence of the cruel animal cruelty. The reward has now been increased to 2,200 euros. So if you have any information just contact them.

We hope that this cat will survive. She deserves that, because she is a brave fighter.
