A Feral Black Cat Has Become an Unexpected Attraction at the Zoo

There are few bears living at this zoo in California, but an old black bear name Sequoia has had a rare cat buddy – a stray black cat. Zookeepers at Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary have named “Little Bear.” Zookeepers aren’t even sure where Little Bear came from – she just appeared up a several years ago and made her home in the bear enclosure.

“Every morning we give dog food for the bears and she began coming into the exhibit and eating the dog food,” said Jill Faust, senior lead zookeeper. “Once she began coming in here every day we began putting cat food specially for her in the morning as well.”

Little Bear  and Sequoia , who has a clipped ear which means he’s been neutered, wander together through the bear enclosure. They’ve even shared meals together! The strange animal friendship is very interesting for the visitors, who are sometimes alarmed to see a cat so close to a bear!
