This is a happy ending story.
Calgarian Krista Sylvester finally reunited with her missing cat on Thursday after was missing more than 10 years.
She found her feline alive and healthy after she got a call from the Britannia Kingsland Veterinary Clinic on Wednesday.
“I was in fact in Ontario for the last few days and I just landed back home, and immediately got a call from the vet and they told me they had my pet.”
She said she was very shocked, because when she got the call her cats were relaxing on the sofa next to her.
The vet said to her they had a white and black cat with a tattoo they were able to trace back to her from when it was neutered in 2003.
Sylvester immediately thought that the feline they were talking about was her missing cat of 10 years Phoenix.
“I was very confused,” she said. “That cat ran is missing since 2004 or 2005.”
“I was a little bit surprised …. I never imagined I would hug him again.”
“Nobody knows where the kitten was wandering , but it is obvious that someone took care of her because she was fed very well,” she add.
“I think he’s been wandering around Kingsland or Britannia for the last month and somebody took him in.”
At first, Sylvester – who already has two dogs and two cats – wanted to give Phoenix back to the person who cared for him for the past 10 years.
“I had him for about 1 or 2 years before he run away or got lost– and the person who had him [last] had him for 10 years ” Sylvester said. “I contacted the humane society and in fact, they told me, I’m the last legal owner so they said I should care for him.”
Sylvester took Phoenix from a Calgary vet, taking him at her house to live with her once again.
“I decided to take care of him ” she said. “However if someone recognizes him and they raised the cat, for the last 10 years they can contact me.”
