The abyssinian blue cat, last noticed running away from the spot of a fracas north of Wellington, has been missing since a simple fireman’s call to rescue the feline trapped in a tree ended into big drama.
The one-year-old cat has last been seen in Sunday morning, when he run away after Porirua fireman tried to catch him from a tall macrocarpa close to his home.
Morty the cat refused to be rescued. The attempt of the firefighter ended very well.
The fireman and cat both fell down almost 10 meters from the tree.
The first thing the firefighter asked when he awoke was: “Did we get the cat?,”. The firefighter stays in medical center and is healing very well. His injuries are not life-threatening
The kitten fell on feet and run away, but the firefighter was not so lucky. He was taken to the nearest hospital with rescue helicopter.
Jane Weggery, daughter of Mordecai’s owner Joy Collins, announced that Morty was still missing.
“We will continue to searh for him and hope he will return safe home.”
The night before the accident, Weggery tried to rescue Mordecai herself, but was unsuccessful.
She thinks Mordecai probably have run away further than the bush.
Weggery said she is planning to go to look for the cat in the bush.
“I was there today and was calling his name, but there was no response from him.”
She said the family was very thankful that the firefighter is luckily alive and without serious injuries.
The firefighter is recovering very well and we are so happy for him. We hope he will recovered completely very soon. Also, we hope that the cat will return home as soon as possible. Maybe she was just scared of the people when the accident occurred.
