A crying little kitty was hanging onto oysters on a piling of the Roosevelt Bridge (in Stuart, Florida), trying desperately to stay afloat. A Martin County Deputy arrived at the scene to rescue and pulled the little upset kitty out to safety.
“It’s not a usual water rescue, but this little one had everything to do with nine lives. The Martin County Sheriff’s Marine Unit received a call to a location near the Roosevelt Bridge after a kind Samaritan called to say they hear some desperate cries and meowing coming from the cold water,” Martin County Sheriff‘s Office (MCSO) wrote on Facebook.
MCSO Marine Deputy Michael Libasci started to locate the cries and found a little black kitty climbing onto some oysters on the piling for life. “The kitten was exhausted and fighting to stay afloat. Deputy Libasci was able to get the animal out of the cold water and place the kitten inside the boat.”
“Once on-safe, the kitty wanted to stay and play with our Marine Unit.”
Exploring the boat. The kitten is grateful to be safe.
Deputies brought the little kitty to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, where the tiny buddy was named “Roosevelt,” after the bridge.
Tiny Roosevelt is doing very well at his foster home. He’s got a buddy to cuddle with, and is very loved by his caregivers.
