When an animal gets injured beyond repair, there’s common a disturbing and heartbreaking conversation about whether or not they should be put to sleep. Definitely, no one wants that to happen, but nobody wants to see pets suffer, either.
However, some animals can be a great fighters, and when one homeless cat’s life was on the edge and they didn’t know if she would pull through, they had to make a hard choice….
Meet Duchess, a flame point Siamese.
After being hit by a vehicle, Duchess was taken to the Adobe Animal Hospital and Clinic in Texas.
According to Crystal Tate, a worker of animal hospital, Duchess was very lucky not to have been euthanized. Even if she survived her other wounds, she would never be able to eat properly again, because her jaw had been smashed and she lost most of her teeth.
The hospital staff must have thought that she was worth taking a chance on, because they fixed her jaw as best as they could and only hopped for the best.
Duchess kept fighting for her survival, staying at the clinic for over a month to heal completely after the surgery. She had to eat through a feeding tube and take a variety of medications.
Even after the worst part of her pain was over, Duchess was still left with a crooked jaw. Her mouth wouldn’t open properly, so she wasn`t able to chew… and she only had a several teeth left.
Despite all of this, Crystal fall in love with Duchess.
The story doesn’t end there… See what happened next!
